Merry Christmas everyone! Following the big revamps, Altema has now massively updated their list. Details to follow, but to put it bluntly, Beach Fujin has been demoted off our Aggregate Sub list. Still a solid sub no doubt, but Altema has opted to add Split DKali in her place instead.
As to what earned DKali such a massive promotion, it seems that with the emergent color leads that were introduced in the last month or two (Edward, Yuna, Ideal, etc.), DKali’s firepower, guard break, and short cool down board change is too hard to pass up.
The Fire Top 5’s rankings all got shuffled around, with “No. 6” now reigning supreme; obviously for his triple God killer awakening against Arena. I personally would take prefer Enra over him though. NA just received the revo Zeus “Zeus Verse”. We will probably see Arena speed runs with revo Zeus lead and No.6 subs soon. Same deal with Kiri in Water Top 5: Triple Dragon killers.
Getting to Wood Top 5, Rushana kicks Cronus off the list had me scratching my head a little bit. While I do commend Rushana’s usefulness (FUA, farmable, 4 turn active), Cronus’s ability to pump out damage with his triple 7c and a decent active outperforms Rushana as a sub. Also, how ironic is it, that Awoken Cronus is one of the best subs for Rushana teams. Hmm…
Hiko (#4001) and Paimon kicks Diao Chan and Light Cotton off “Light Top 5”. Diao Chan’s use was getting a little stale; her value on Anubis teams diminished with the introduction of Tardis. Hiko has a Fujin-esque active while also +2 combos for one turn, and has 3SB to go along with his other good awakenings, making him a good Arena sub. Paimon finally makes it onto the list, replacing Light Cotton as the Light FUA. Probably because we don’t need Cotton’s double 7c anymore if we can just sub in Light Ideal instead, and have Paimon (with more relevant awakenings) deal with Resolve bosses.
I’ve talked about DKali already, but Split Eschamali at #5 on the list honestly came as a surprise for me. Sure, she has 2SB, 2 7c. and unbindable awakenings now, but her active conflicts with her 7c awakening. More specifically, more often than not her active will flood the board with dark orbs and thus you might not be able to get 7 combos off.
I seriously question some of Altema’s changes this time around. What do you think of their changes?
And finally, the new Christmas cards (Ilmina, Fagan) and the KING OF FIGHTERS Collab will probably stir up more changes to our sub Tier list to come. Stay Tuned!

The Subs below mostly accompany top combo/colour leads, such as the leaders from my “JP Aggregate Leader List” posts. They boast tremendous firepower through their multiple 7c awakenings and/or have valuable killer awakenings (such as God, dragon, devil killers). HOWEVER, they are not universal; all subs should be built around your leader, and more importantly the DUNGEON you are tackling. Which goes back to my main point: “Donât take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which subs are actually the best for your specific situation.”
