Hey guys! Another big overhaul of the Sub List, this time by Game8 and GameWith. While these changes did not affect the Aggregate Sub List, we may see Yuusuke surfacing up as #5 in the weeks to come. Other than that, I will be discussing some of the reasoning behind ranking shifts, most notable one being Fire Ilmina.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the only recent change to Ilmina was the addition of Super Awakenings, one of the options being VDP (Void Damage Piercer). I didn’t take note of this before, but it seems their sub lists have some “bias” towards Solo Play rather than co-op, obviously made apparent by their regards in Super Awakenings. This makes sense to an extent; often times, in co-op play, having 10 total base cards (5 from each player of course) and 10 possible assists usually mean you can cover for most of the gimmicks that any dungeon throws at you. Therefore, sub lists are made a little less relevant by the fact that your subs are going to be less restrictive in co-op play than that of solo.
Thus comes the increase in ranking of Fire Ilmina; having 3 killers (2 of which are very relevant: dragon and god killer) as well as that VDP super awakening does wonders for teams that traditionally have to rely on Pixel cards (from Final Fantasy, for example) before. And that is another reason why GameWith decided to drop the “Pixel series” honourable mention from their list; they were nice before, but their awakenings often pale in comparison to the cards we have access to as of late (Valentines Ney, Ilmina, Tardis, Yuusuke, even the Greek pantheon)
And then there’s Yuusuke, again. We’ve seen enough of him from the Aggregate Leader List last week, but he is just that dominant right now. I was actually put in a tough spot of who to put as the #5 slot on this week’s Aggregate List, but decided I will stick to Valentines Ney until Yuusuke’s ranking solidifies and Altema updates their list. While they both fill similar roles in a team, I believe Valentines Ney has an advantage in the form of her better active skill, especially in the face of Alt Arena. Having that extra Awoken Bind Recovery is nice for emergencies, amongst other things, and can possibly save a sub slot that’s usually reserved for Odin Dragon. Also, since 7c is harder to achieve if you’re also going to match 3×3 cube, her TPA awakenings instead will help out with boosting her damage.
That will be it for this week’s post. As always, thank you for reading! Until next time!
Directed at EVERYONE, and not just the newer players:
DISCLAIMER: (quoted from SetsuPAD)
“Do NOT take these ratings as facts; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which subs are actually the best for your specific situation.”
Cards you own that are not on these Tier Lists are not automatically nonviable, and cards you own that are on these Tier Lists are not automatically viable.
The Subs below mostly accompany top combo/colour leads, such as the leaders from my “JP Aggregate Leader List” posts. They boast tremendous firepower through their multiple 7c awakenings and/or have valuable killer awakenings (such as God, dragon, devil killers). HOWEVER, they are not universal; all subs should be built around your leader, and more importantly the DUNGEON you are tackling. Which goes back to my main point: “Don’t take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which subs are actually the best for your specific situation.”
