Late Merry Christmas and Early Happy New Years! With the addition of our nostalgic King of Fighters Collab, Christmas REM, and soon New Years REM, meta shifts are bound to happen. AppMedia has notably added Rikuu (From November Quest rewards, NA will be receiving him very soon). Game8 has, in my opinion, preemptively revamped their list again to reflect the new and buffed cards, and I will explain why:
I question Game8’s integrity mainly of the numerous and unstable adjustments to their list. Rikuu’s promotion I can somewhat understand (farmable and decent multipliers), but BHunters tier promotion and Kamimusubi’s demotion gives me the feeling that they’re changing them up for the sake of presenting a new list every week. The new addition of the KoF card, Mai Shiranui, is also another example. While I do agree she’s pretty good and can very well act as a Fire/Light “Diablos” and 7×6 Rii/Li shenanigans (pairing with possibly Kenshin), it’s all too early to dictate a placement for her. Over on the JP server, we’ve been bombarded with a plethora of events as of the past week (KoF, Christmas, New Years, Xin Hua Ranking Dungeon, PADR ranking in a few hours), so I doubt the Game8 writers have had much time or video footage of Mai to make a solid decision. Not saying Mai doesn’t deserve to be there, but again it’s too early to decide.
I’m ranting a little bit too much here, so I will move on to talking about Rikuu. I think it’s been announced that the quest reward for January will be the long awaited Rikuu. 3x ATK and RCV for dragon type and 5x attack for 5 types of orb match, for a 15x ATK multiplier with shield is not too shabby, especially for a farmable card that everyone can get. I don’t believe the actual Rikuu dungeon was all that difficult either; you get plenty of turns (providing that you bring shield/utility) to kill him. His weighted stats, active, and awakenings are of the weaker side, but solo play with Super Awakenings alleviates a little of that weakness (namely bind resist). Overall, not a bad lead though you do need some good Dragon subs to make him work. Ideal, Sherias Roots, Amatsu, and Odin Dragon are some of the recommended subs listed on AppMedia.
That will be all for this week. I hope you didn’t mind the short and messy post, and again Merry Christmas and Happy New Years, and here’s to hoping for a better PAD 2018!
DISCLAIMER: (quoted from SetsuPAD) on all current and future Aggregate/Tier lists: “Don’t take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which leads are actually the best for your specific situation.”
Cards you own that are not on these Tier Lists are not automatically nonviable, and cards you own that are on these Tier Lists are not automatically viable.
These tier lists assume BEST subs (often hard-to-acquire GFEs/collab cards) tackling hard dungeons (Arena 3, 3-Player Rushes, ALT Arena/Arena 4). Therefore, their uses largely depend on your box, your progression in PAD, and personal puzzling/comboing skills.
