Hey guys! Looks like there’s more and more to talk about as Gungho releasing these meta leads. There’s been the Mega Awoken Sherias Roots as well as Valkyrie CIEL from the stream, and now we have the highly-anticipated “Sword Art Online” Collab joining the fray. In this post, I’ll briefly go over each one and give my verdict on them.
No surprises here honestly; everyone can tell he’s going to big right on the release of his stats:
- Notable awakenings include FUA, unbindable, and 3 God killers (great for Alt Arena)
- 2x HP and 2x ATK to dragon type. 2x ATK when above 50% HP. 4x ATK when attacking with 4+ types.
- Active skill is board change into all 6 orb types and locking them. 7 CD. Surprisingly, there’s a good use for his skill: namely it deals with the spinners/roulettes that I know many of you have come to hate.
- 1102 weighted stats
From his leader skill and team building, the dragon typing restriction is honestly not a problem; a lot of good subs recently have been dragon (Ideal, Odin Dragon, Kuroyuri)
Perhaps the biggest problem when you run Sherias Roots into Alt Arena is dropping below 50% HP, either from a large preempt, or from a failed sweep. Dropping below that threshold puts your max ATK multiplier at 64x instead of 256x. Without a healing active or a delay, you will possibly be put in a tight spot of never healing enough to put you above 50% (from personal experience actually).
To circumvent this, Suu’s team from his video solves it pretty well.
Two Ideals for damage and team boosts, and a delay active.
Odin Dragon for Awoken Bind recovery and healing.
Mel for even more healing.
However, Roots can still get into tight situations regarding its HP, and thus is inferior to the likes of Dark Metatron. That puts him at Tier 2 on our Aggregate List.
Valkyrie CIEL (and coin trading)
Probably been discussed to death already, but the first and foremost thing is to hold off on trading your free coin in until AFTER you have rolled all you want on the 10-stone Player Choice God Fest REM, to prevent dupes.
With that being said, the general consensus is that Zeus GIGA is good mostly for farming. Might have use in future ranking dungeons.
However, there are a ton of farming leads and options out there already. Unless you don’t have any farming leads, I advise you to use your coin elsewhere.
Athena NON’s leader skill isn’t anything too impressive to warrant trading for her. She could however, make a pretty good damage stick as a sub on Edward Elric teams and the likes. Very high attack, good typing for latent killers, 2 7c and TPAs. A plausible choice; will depend on your box.
Finally, there’s Valkyrie CIEL. As you can probably tell, Valk CIEL has landed as Tier 3 on the Aggregate Tier list, and for a good reason. She has quite a friendly and simple leader skill of just comboing for ATK and an innate +2 second move time. However, her healer typing restriction will probably stop a lot of players in their tracks. Obviously whales will have access to multiple Ideals and Cottons to make her team, but others will not have it so easily. Though, like Athena NON, she will make for a nice damage stick with her killers and 2 7c. Another plausible choice for trading, again will be dependant on your box.
For reference, Valkyrie CIEL is my choice for trading. Though I will personally wait until the last week or so to trade for her, in case of any meta shifts and changes.
Sword Art Online Collab REM
It’s finally here! And it’s quite early to have a detailed write-up prepared, so this will just be my personal opinion here:
The Golds in this Collab aren’t very good (as usual?) There are some potential niche uses for the cards in the form of inherits, but nothing so unique that you would need to go out of your way to roll for.
Klein creates a fire row on the 2nd row, which could be useful as a farming inherit to create a VDP board when comboed with a full board change like Zeus-Dios.
Agil has 2 machine killers and can have 3 more Machine killer latents on top of it, and also has 2 skill boosts and a relatively short CD (unlike Reiner Brown). Could be useful in a machine Hera farm team.
The diamond rolls could be a hit or a miss. Though in my opinion there’s no game changers in this lineup. Kirito plays like an upgraded Dark Athena; multipliers and +2 seconds are decent but lacking a shield. Asuna is not bad either though she’s more suited for farming than anything. Leafa’s shield is pretty good, but too wood orb hungry and is very weak to multi-hits. Sinon’s leader multiplier is impressive but her attacker-type restriction absolutely sucks. Yuuki is again better suited as a farming lead than anything.
So the verdict is there are better things to be rolling for (10-stone Godfest obviously). But that being said, most of us fanboys will probably be rolling more than we should in the SAO REM anyway. Personally I rolled until I have most of the Golds (~6-8 rolls), and bought the 6* + 20 stone package because of my shitty luck. Alicization is amazing.
Thank you for reading!
DISCLAIMER: (quoted from SetsuPAD)
On all current and future Aggregate/Tier lists: “Don’t take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which leads are actually the best for your specific situation.”
Cards you own that are not on these Tier Lists are not automatically non-viable, and cards you own that are on these Tier Lists are not automatically viable.
These tier lists pretty much assume BEST and OPTIMAL subs (often hard-to-acquire GFEs/collab cards) tackling hard dungeons (3-Player Rushes, Alt Arena, Arena 4, etc.) Therefore, their uses largely depend on your box, your progression in PAD, and personal puzzling + comboing skills.
