Hello all! Hope you are all having a blast with the simultaneous release of Magic the Gathering Collab! With this collab came yet another wave of good cards, with one particular card, Jhoira, coming out on top and becoming an all-important contender to our glorious 7×6 boad, Diablos. This post will focus on Jhoira, and also talk about the all-important question: “Should I roll?”
Another meta-defining card that has combines the strengths of multiple other cards into one:
- Her active skill is basically Odin Dragon’s
- Her leader skill, in my opinion, is a slight downgrade to Diablos’s due to having a color restriction built in, but has a higher attack multiplier at 9x instead of Diablos’s 8.5x.
- Her awakenings are what you would expect from a meta card: unbindable, 3 skill boosts, 1 SBR, 2 TE, and a 10c
- Balanced typing yet again, being able to take any killer latent
As for why I think her leader skill is slightly inferior, consider that any boss orb change affecting your water or fire orbs will cripple that 3x multiplier, making it less reliable. That’s not to take anything away from the card though; aside from the insane pros I pointed out, she is a lot more accessible to the common player. Being able to pull from a 5-stone REM at 2.5%, and notably being able to trade in 4 for 1, is insane by any means.
Moreover, she has an assist/equip evolution that provides 1 TE, hp boost, and cloud resist. Clouds have been a nuisance since their introduction, and has little counters (unless you’re playing solo with cards that have cloud Super Awakenings). Well, say no more, Jhoira is here. Not only that, but let me remind you that her active skill is supplemental to any team tackling Alt Arena.
Overall, a great card to have. BUT, before you pull the trigger either to roll hard or trade for her, remember that, similar to Diablos, you can just “leech” off of your friend list. Lead with your own Edward or Reeche or something similar and just pair with a friend’s Jhoira. Just something to keep in mind before you go too hard in MTG.
Jhoira aside, the other 6* diamond rolls Vraska, Karn, and Nicol Bolas can be nice to have, but I feel there are already existing cards (in terms of leader/active skill) that do the same thing. They don’t have that big enough of an impact to justify rolling specifically for them.
That being said, the 5* golds such as Liliana can potentially fill niche roles in farming and ranking alike. Personally I will probably be rolling until I can get a near complete set of the golds. If I get a 6* along the way, great! Might trade for Jhoira last minute, not sure yet. Anyways, from experience, don’t set your goal and expectations too high, and you won’t nearly have those rage/ranting moments while rolling. Remember, the 6* rate is only 10%.
The above advice is mainly for F2P and Light IAP players. Otherwise, the assist evos of the diamond rolls are pretty good for future use in farming/ranking/whatever (SB equip, unbindable equip, cloud resist equip, poison resist equip)
That’s it for this week’s post. As always, thanks for reading!
DISCLAIMER: (quoted from SetsuPAD) on all current and future Aggregate/Tier lists: “Don’t take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which leads are actually the best for your specific situation.”
Cards you own that are not on these Tier Lists are not automatically non-viable, and cards you own that are on these Tier Lists are not automatically viable.
These tier lists assume BEST subs (often hard-to-acquire GFEs/collab cards) tackling hard dungeons (3-Player Rushes, ALT Arena/Arena 4). Therefore, their uses largely depend on your box, your progression in PAD, and personal puzzling/comboing skills.
